John Italume is an experienced and qualified Chartered Accountant with 15 years’ experience in Financial Management, Accounting, Aviation, Research, Data and Business analysis.
John graduated with a second class upper in Economics from Lagos State University in 2009. He began his accounting career in 2006 during his university days when he registered for the Accounting Technician Scheme (ATS) and qualified as an Associate Accounting Technician (AAT) in 2008. Upon his graduation from the University as an Economist, Italume continued in his accounting studies by enrolling for the professional examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and qualified as an Associate Chartered Accountant in 2012 which further earned him a Fellow Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountant in 2023.
John Italume also belongs to a couple other professional Institutions such as Chartered Institute Taxation of Nigeria, International Institute of Certified Forensic Accountants and a registered member of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria. In 2014 he was admitted into the University of Lagos where he studied for his postgraduate studies and earned a master’s degree in economics in 2015.
In the early days of his life, he was a teacher who taught both primary and secondary students. Prior to joining FAAN, Italume was a Financial Analyst and a Tax Practitioner. He worked as a consultant and further joined the Consolidated Hallmark Insurance where he also managed clients in terms of debt recovery and reports to the management. In 2013, he joined the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) as a Senior Accountant and was saddled with the responsibility of accounts reconciliation and other Finance responsibilities.
In 2023, he was promoted to a Chief Accountant in charge of Revenue Inflow Data Analysis and Reconciliation in the Treasury Department where he works with the Finance Team in analyzing financial data generated from revenue sources alongside reporting monthly revenue projections. In 2017, he attended a course titled Airport Business Analytics organized by the Airport Council International in Lagos Nigeria which made him further completed the Airport Management Professional Accreditation Program in 2023. He is currently certified as an International Airport Professional (IAP).
He is happily married and blessed with children.
