Mrs. Rita Akpan FCA is highly experienced public sector audit professional with deep specialization and extensive experience in aviation-sector governance, risk-based internal auditing, and regulatory compliance. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), a Past Chairman of Ikeja and District Society of ICAN and an EXCO member of the ICAN Aviation Chapter, she brings decades of leadership across critical audit functions.
Mrs Akpan FCA has served as Head of Revenue Audit, Pension Audit, and Payroll Audit, providing assurance over aeronautical revenue streams, staff costs, pension administration, and statutory compliance in the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA). She is currently leading the Procurement and Budget Audit Unit, overseeing audits of capital and recurrent expenditures, procurement processes, budget performance, and value-for-money outcomes, in line with the extant rules and regulations.
Her work is anchored on risk-based and performance audit methodologies aligned with public sector financial management principles. She is passionate about facilitation, mentorship, developing future-ready audit and finance professionals and positioning internal audit as a strategic enabler of safety, accountability, and sustainable performance in the aviation industry.

She was elected an Executive Committee member of the District in the 2012/2013 Chairmanship year. She has served the district in several capacities such as General Secretary, Treasurer, Social Secretary, Membership Secretary, Financial Secretary, Vice Chairman and was elected as the 33rd Chairman in 2020/2021 Chairmanship year
